I find that the button knot is the most useful knot to know for making jewellery, especially when using glass lampwork beads and 2mm satin cords. I have at last finished my You Tube channel on the button knot, entitled "The Very Useful Button Knot". There are 8 videos covering different ways of tying the button knot, for example how to tie it with just one cord, and how to tie it with two cords, as in jewellery making it's quite possible you might be using two cords and not just one. I also show you how to move the knot, as when you've finished tying it it does not usually lie in the right place on your cord. I also show how to tie a double button knot with just one cord and also with two cords. There are two videos showing just diagrams, as it's very helpful to have a diagram to show you the "anatomy" of the knot. Both types of button knot can be tied with just fingers which is very helpful when making knotted jewellery.

ENJOY!
Decorative knots and beads complement each other beautifully. The cord is an important part of the design of the piece you are creating. The cords, as well as being knotted can be knitted, crocheted, braided or woven and the cord colour blends or contrasts with the beads, making a unique and definitely 'hand made with love' piece of jewellery.

Decorative Knots
This is a blog about decorative knots with beads. Ordinary beading usually requires the cord it's threaded on to be nearly invisible. In decorative knotting with beads the cord is an important part of the design, the colour and texture of the cord is as crucial to the piece as the beads are and should compliment them. So the cord can be knotted with lovely knot designs and the result is a very interesting necklace or bracelet, it can be light and delicate, or bold and dramatic, it's up to you!
Braiding, knitting and crochet can also be combined with beads for creative and beautiful results.
